Purpose and Description
The purpose of this project is to develop a recognition and validation system for heavy equipment operators that are recognized among Nordic countries. The priority areas as it relates to heavy equipment safety certification will be:
* Performing research among three partner countries (EE, FI, DK) to compare country operator certification processes, tools, required frequency and overall comprehensive nature;
* Awareness and promotion of the need to increase safety for operators;
* Comparing certification standards in accordance to ECVET measurements;
* Developing a week-long safety course using the best training practices, tools, and requirements;
* Training of trainers- experts training vocational teachers from Estonia and Finland;
* Piloting actions Estonia. Experts training side-by-side with vocational teachers in Estonia;
* Dissemination and promotion of Nordic Certification of Heavy Equipment Operators.
This 1-year Nordplus Adult project is a collaborative work between 4 partners in three countries consisting of private industry, vocational school, Danish safety authorities and educational support institutions. The aim is to increase awareness in road construction safety by developing a safety training course with an accompanying Nordic country certificate of recognition with the means by which to measure transferring safety certificates using ECVET units. Activities for accomplishing this aim include research, mapping, national awareness building, ECVET unit development, training of trainers, piloting action, and dissemination of results. The exepted outcome is an improvement in the Nordic system of safety recognition and certification. The products of this partnership will be a new comparative study between Estonia, Denmark and Finland; a new 5-day training course based on best practices; a safety certificate recognized by Nordic countries, but transferable to other European regions throught the development of ECVET measurement units.
